FAQ – frequently asked questions about technical planning at CMY Brand Solutions
FAQ
General
We deliver independent, vendor-agnostic technical planning for events, trade fairs and architectural/media projects. This includes lighting, audio, video and media technology, kinetics and safety-related services (health & safety coordination (SiGeKo), fire detection systems (BMA), voice alarm systems (SAA)). We advise, coordinate and support projects end-to-end through to commissioning.
It ensures objective decisions. We select solutions based on functionality, budget and project goals—not on supplier relationships. That maximizes compatibility, scalability and sustainability.
Yes. We evaluate existing lighting, audio or media systems and integrate them where technically and economically feasible—saving resources, reducing costs and accelerating delivery.
We begin with a briefing, then needs analysis, concept design, tender documentation, partner selection, detailed design, site supervision and project management. We remain on board through final acceptance.
We work for clients in live communication, architecture, industry, the public sector and media production—trade-fair organizers, broadcasters, agencies, general contractors and public institutions—across Germany and internationally.
We coordinate tendering, review bids, produce specifications, conduct procurement negotiations, supervise execution, liaise with trades and represent the client in technical matters—focused on quality, cost and schedule.
Among others: AutoCAD (technical drawings), Rhino 3D (visualization), DIALux (lighting simulation), EASE (acoustics), plus additional tools across AV, electrical and safety disciplines.
Yes—Europe-wide and beyond. We work remotely or on site—on construction sites, in production facilities or in coordination with international design offices.
Yes. We offer hands-on training on H&S coordination, operating technical systems and working with authorities—tailored to your project, in person or online.
We are listed in the official AVPQ directory and certified for fire detection (BMA) and voice alarm (SAA) in line with DIN 14675 and EN 16763—key for public tenders.
Lighting
We craft a tailored lighting concept aligned with architecture, exhibits and audience impact. Beyond technology and compliance, we consider brand experience, color and sightlines—incl. plots, simulation, tendering and site supervision.
We use efficient LED fixtures and smart control to avoid load peaks and standby consumption. We advise on fixture selection, operating times and dimming scenarios to combine effect with sustainability.
Absolutely—color palettes, atmospheres and show dramaturgy. For business events, award shows or broadcast, we translate your goals into a compelling lighting concept.
Yes—via 3D visualizations and lighting simulations to validate moods, contrasts and coverage early and adjust before production.
Yes—precise, standards-compliant specifications, installation plans and descriptions—vendor-agnostic, making offers comparable and legally robust.
We analyze fixtures, consoles and rigging, and integrate them intelligently—saving cost while meeting quality and safety requirements.
Yes—control architectures with grandMA, Art-Net and timecode, designed for redundancy and documented clearly for operations.
Audio
We analyze acoustics (e.g., with EASE) and design systems for intelligibility and clarity—optimizing loudspeaker positions, delays and dispersion for homogeneous coverage.
We plan with Dante, AES67 and AVB—flexible distribution, remote configuration, redundancy and tight integration with video, intercom and IT.
We integrate wired/wireless intercom for production, engineering and crew—fail-safe, easy to operate and interoperable with audio, video and safety systems.
Yes—standards-compliant specifications with requirements, quantities and evaluation methods—transparent and vendor-agnostic for public and private tenders.
We plan for strong STI values and even SPL distribution via suitable arrays, delay zones, DSP and professional alignment.
Multi-layer redundancy—from dual paths and backup processors to UPS and smart failover—scaled to risk and budget.
Yes—in museums, theatres, conference spaces and corporate venues, with an emphasis on usability, maintainability and reliable operation.
We review existing setups, identify weaknesses and design upgrades for networking, processing and control—without full replacement.
Video
Complete video planning: LED walls, projection, media servers, signal distribution, control and playback—matched to space, resolution, brightness, viewing distances and show flow.
We assess ambient light, content resolution, layout and sightlines and recommend laser projectors or high-resolution LED/LCD, depending on use case and budget.
Yes—pixel pitch, brightness, control, viewing angle, support structure and emergency operation. Full CAD integration incl. structural interfaces and synchronized media output.
Pixera, Pandoras Box, Watchout, Resolume and others—for real-time playback, mapping, timelines, timecode sync and interactivity.
Robust, low-latency paths such as SDI, HDBaseT, NDI or fiber HDMI, with redundancy, genlock, frame-rate management and routing via routers/matrices.
Yes—switchers, multiviews, comms, access to camera/media/stream signals. We ensure optimal layout and networking of playback, recording and streaming.
Yes—with attention to scaling, bandwidth and hardware—future-proof for UHD productions, fine-pitch LED and media-intensive events.
We integrate PTZ and broadcast cameras, crossbars, recorders and control—planning sightlines and remote/manual operation with redundant storage.
With timecode (SMPTE, MTC) so effects, media and audio trigger frame-accurately every time.
Media technology
It combines image, sound and control into a coherent experience for presentations, exhibitions and live events. We design AV systems, visualizations, media control and networks—functional, design-conscious and intuitive to operate.
Yes—with Crestron, AMX, QSC or KNX for meeting rooms, showrooms or complex events—operated via touch panels, tablets or schedules, user-friendly and reliable.
We develop interactive solutions with touchscreens, motion tracking, sensors, real-time data and projection. In museums, brand spaces and trade fairs we connect technology and storytelling for maximum engagement.
We orchestrate video, lighting, audio and exhibits by time or events—triggered by motion sensors, buttons, schedules or network commands—documented and maintainable.
Yes—signal-flow diagrams, wiring, run sheets and user guides—delivered digitally (and on request in print) for maintainability and long-term operability.
We plan structured AV networks including VLANs, PoE, IP addressing and security—stable communication between media servers, controllers and endpoints, independent of the operator’s IT network.

Health & safety coordination (SiGeKo)
SiGeKo is the health & safety coordination role under the German Construction Site Ordinance. It is required when multiple trades work simultaneously—e.g., refurbishments, technical builds or temporary event structures.

Yes—construction-related training (e.g., civil engineering, specialist planners) and additional H&S coordination qualifications. CMY deploys certified experts with practical experience.
Yes—including pre-notification, SiGe-Plan, on-site coordination, documentation and communication with authorities for building sites, temporary setups, events and technical conversions.
It describes hazards, protective measures, responsibilities and process. It is mandatory when multiple companies operate at the same time. We deliver clear, compliant plans tailored to your project.
We check protective measures, document issues (including photos), propose improvements and coordinate with contractors. Digital reports keep all stakeholders informed.
For events with stages, trusses or special constructions a SiGeKo may be required—especially when several trades are active. We provide full service as per regulations, even for short timelines.
For certain projects a pre-notification must be filed before work starts—e.g., long durations or large headcounts. We prepare and submit the documents on your behalf.
